Steering Team Members
The Steering Team members meet monthly (currently via Zoom) to brainstorm plan, budget, and oversee initiatives to meet our mission and vision. It is a welcoming and open atmosphere.

Focus areas
Committees
Education/Awareness Programs
The purpose of this committee is to develop and provide educational/awareness events related to living well with dementia. No prior teaching experience needed as we have well developed presentations.
Engagement and Advocacy Committee
This committee focuses on designing programming for engagement of people living with dementia in everyday activities, special events, and DFWNC development. Our main focus is Memory Cafes. We develop relationships with community partners to collaborate on programming that is inclusive of people living with dementia. We advocate for the rights and wellbeing of people living with dementia and their care partners.
Finance Committee
This committee maintains financial accounting and reporting including working with the steering team to create long range financial plans and projections to increase funding proposals, grants, investments, community partnerships, and special gifts.
Communications Committee
This committee focuses on sharing our mission throughout the community. Current strategies include: the Dementia Friendly WNC brochure: creation (updates) and distribution and continued development and maintenance of a Dementia Friendly WNC website, and press releases/ interviews with the press.
Membership Development Committee
This committee shares the DFWNC mission to recruit new members and conducts member orientation.
